Guy Mintus - Rhapsody In Blue, Ladino and Klezmer Improvisations
“An artist of prodigious talent and boundless ambition” (Brian Zimerman, DownBeat Magazine)
Guy Mintus will return to Mosaik for an intimate solo show part of his 10 cities European tour. An Israeli pianist and composer coming from a mixed heritage of Iraqi, Moroccan & Polish Jews, Guy is a true 'citizen of the world’. NY based for the past five years while constantly on the go, having recently performed in Brazil, India, Turkey and throughout Europe, the US and Canada. Whether he’s sharing the stage with jazz legends, composes for classical orchestras or collaborates with masters of traditional music; Guy feels at home. For him it’s not the what but the why that stands behind a musical gesture. Guy's piano sound can often resemble a Turkish Kanun, a Flamenco guitar, a Jazz Big Band or a Romantic orchestra. His solo shows manifest his multicultural vision and spontaneous approach often enhanced by the use of his voice. As part of the Frankfurt show Guy will give a preview to his new Jazz & Klezmer injected interpretation for Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue which he will perform later on in the tour with the Bayerische Philharmonic!
